R. Brad Oates is the CEO of Stone Advisors, L.P., a Dallas, Texas-based strategic advisory and consulting company.
Brad was President of the LexisNexis Risk Solutions Group, the risk management division of LexisNexis, from May 2000 to March 2001, before assuming the role as Global Strategy Advisor for the LexisNexis Group, the global legal information services business of Reed Elsevier, a leading global publisher and information services company. He continued to serve in this capacity until December 2001, when he started Stone Advisors.
Brad is recognized as one of the information industry's leading experts on how government and business professionals can utilize information solutions to solve their risk management problems.
Brad also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Bluebonnet Savings Bank of Dallas from 1988 - 1997, and continues to serve as Bluebonnet's Vice Chairman and board member.
Brad is a frequent speaker and lecturer on a variety of topics, including strategic planning, information risk management, organizational leadership and the future of the information services industry. He is the founder of the Financial ConciergeTM strategy for financial institutions and the author of the Stone Advisors' Strategic Assessment Framework for business organizations, involving the management disciplines of (i) Strategy Management, (ii) Financial Management, (iii) Human Resources Management, (iv) Systems Management, (v) Product Management, and (vi) Risk Management.
He received his undergraduate degree in political science from Brigham Young University ("BYU"), and earned a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU.
He played professional football for eight years in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Detroit Lions, and the Green Bay Packers. He resides in Dallas with his wife, Karen, and three children, where he is active in a number of community organizations.
