Book Features
As a textbook, this book comes with many features that other e-business books do not have. It concentrates on the principles of good e-Business management, provides opportunities for class discussion and includes many web-based exercises. This book concentrates on good pedagogy.
Other features include:
Additionally, there is an extensive bibliography of books, articles, and other documentation to encourage further reading and tons of web sites and other resources that are well organized into contextual categories for maximum understanding.
What really impressed us about this book?
The book has three impressive
attributes when compared with other e-business books. First, the authors have
paid the price of preparation and involvement to write this comprehensively.
They had more than 60 people assist in reviewing and writing this book. Second,
the authors have written many books and authored many courses. This experience
is shown throughout the book. Third, the authors concentrated on real-life IT
trade magazines and other resources. These, along with more than 70 academic
papers, case studies, journals, and newspapers, make this book come alive with
rich and useful information.
What is the book's greatest weakness?
There are two primary weaknesses we identified in this book-its timeliness and its length. In regards to its timeliness, it is an early 2001 publication, which is hardly old but many things have changed since the Internet bubble burst. In order to mitigate this, you can supplement the book by searching the publisher's or authors' web site for additional information. The book's length can also be overlooked depending on the primary purpose of the book. If it were to be used as the primary textbook for a course in e-business, its length would be valuable; however, if it were to be used as a supplement, this book might be too lengthy.
Where to obtain the book
It can be purchased directly from the following sources:
Amazon.com web site (www.amazon.com)
for $72.00
Booksamillion web site at (www.bamm.com) for
$72.00
Barnes and Noble web site (www.bn.com) for $72.00
Conclusion - Why you should buy this book
This book would be a great resource as the primary source of information for a course taught on e-business. Although it is expensive and lengthy, I recommend this book as a textbook to be used with other smaller books as supporting materials. It is also a good professional reference book.
