Kevin and Debra Rollins Center for eBusiness

Management Consulting (BUS M 495, ACC 557, ISYS 552)

Course Description

This e-business consulting class offers opportunities to build your resume and develop valuable relationships with companies. In the class, you will be involved with completely professional consulting projects. Several students have obtained summer internships from the companies they consulted for.

Course Projects

Students, with the assistance of faculty members, are helping companies find the best e-business strategies. Students and faculty are forecasting future markets, analyzing company projects and partnerships, proposing marketing strategies, and exploring new strategies for companies to implement.

The center is always seeking new companies to partner with for e-business projects. In the past, companies have found this to be an incredible resource because of their interaction with students who are in touch with some of the most current strategies and business principles. Through these projects, students are able to apply what they learn in class to real-life situations. Some students have even had internships and jobs after participating with these projects.

If your business is interested in partnering with the center, please contact us at ebusiness@byu.edu.

Student Comments

It is my feeling that this class prepared me more effectively for my career than any other class I took while at BYU. Even after my first year of graduate studies, there is nothing that compares to the experience I received while working jointly with you and Professor Hobson. Now as I begin my career as an Information Systems Auditor with Ernst and Young I feel that I at least have my feet wet and can hit the ground running (to use a few well-worn clichés).

Brad Oates

Stone Holdings has benefited greatly over the past four years from its close association with the Rollins Center for eBusiness in the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. The Rollins Center for eBusiness has supplied dedicated student teams under the guidance of experienced faculty advisors to work on various research projects of critical importance to some of the Stone Holdings portfolio companies. What we have found is that the student teams are a great resource in helping us gather the eBusiness facts that enable us to make intelligent decisions as to how our portfolio companies can use electronic distribution channels and internet technologies to leverage their business models.

Dr. Owen Cherrington and the other faculty advisors are a pleasure to work with. They have a deep understanding of how eBusiness technologies and processes can help businesses grow revenues and lower costs by leveraging new technologies and electronic mediums. We definitely plan to use the Rollins Center student teams and faculty advisors whenever we can to assist in the strategic decisions we need to make with our portfolio companies.
