The BYU consulting group was asked to review the processes used to fill out the Department IT Summary report and make recommendations about how to automate the report. The report took one to two days of solid work for a Relationship Account Manager to fill out. The report has to be filled out for every department of the Church that ICS (Information and Communication Systems Department) serves. The report is very useful and requested often. Because it is so difficult to fill out it is rarely updated.
The team found some of the data was kept in the Church Financial Information System and the Project Reporting System. The rest of the information required a new data base. The BYU team recommended creating or implementing a simple interface to the database to enter information. They also recommended using the Church's data warehouse as a reporting tool of that information.
