Targus Group International: Team Targus Project

Targus Group International

Company Background

Targus is one of the world’s largest providers of laptop and other computer accessories. Targus’ main mission includes being the best at delivery and support for their product, both of which they have excelled at. Targus sees themselves as the top player in accessories in the future and has grand goals for being on the top. With the caliber of management at Targus, they will surely accomplish their goals.

Project Summary

Targus asked the BYU Consulting Team (BCT) to evaluate their current warehousing operations and give them direction as to how they can use their warehousing to help them reach their future sales goals.

The BCT created a dynamic data model using Targus’ warehouse and shipping data to evaluate when Targus would run out of warehouse space and how much space they would need in the future to meet their sales goals. In addition, the BCT looked at best practices and recommendations from professors and literature on the topic of warehousing. This information was gathered together and evaluated given Targus’ situation.

When the project was completed, Targus had a great data model they could use to determine how much warehouse space they would need. Also, in response to the amount of space Targus would need, the BCT recommended Targus look into sourcing their warehousing operations on the east coast (preferably around Tennessee) and look into sourcing their manufacturing from South America.
