BYU Business Plan Competition: Best e-Business Category

Congratulations E-Business BPC Winners!

Check out our poster!

The eBusiness Center has teamed up with BYU’s Business Plan Competition to offer a category for the best e-business plan. The eBusiness Center will award a $5000 prize to the best proposed e-business venture.

What is e-business?

Electronic business, or "e-business", is any business that is empowered or focused on the use of technology or information systems. Today, this is mostly done with web-based technologies. E-businesses use technology as a key product or process in their business strategy.

How do I enter the competition?

Because the eBusiness category is part of BYU's Business Plan Competition you enter the exact same way as everyone else. However, you will need to drop off three (3) additional copies of your business plan to our office in 574 TNRB. This makes eight (8) total copies that you need to turn in, five (5) to the Center for Entrepreneurship and three (3) to our office. For exact dates regarding the competition and to register your organization click here: BPC Home

Can I enter the e-business category along with the regular competition?

Yes. As our mission is to promote the expanse of new innovative e-business ventures we highly encourage those with e-business plans to enter the Business Plan Competition. Your submission in the e-business category will have no effect on your entrance into the regular competition. Our category is completely separate and should be viewed as an added bonus for those plans that relate to the field of e-business.

Can a business plan win the E-business Award even if it wins other awards?

Yes. Your performance in the Business Plan Competition will not affect the judges decision in choosing the best E-business plan. If your team does not progress in the business plan competition, it could still win the Best e-Business Award, and likewise, if your business plan does well in the Business Plan Competition you can still win multiple awards, including the Best E-business Award.

What is the judging process and timeline for the e-business category?

Our panel of judges will choose 3 or 4 finalists based purely on the written plans themselves and then ask these finalists to complete a short presentation in front of them at a later date. These presentations will take place before the date set for the competition finals so that the winner can be announced at the finals.
