Research Associate Speaks at Conference in China

Clint Rogers, research associate for the Rollins Center for eBusiness, presented a paper on the importance of innovative Web 2.0 technologies at the eleventh annual Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education (GCCCE) last month in Guangzhou, China.

As part of the center’s eCANDLE project (electronic Coalition for the Aggregation of Net-based Digital Learning Environments), Rogers spoke on making education more relevant and accessible to developing countries around the world through Web 2.0 learning platforms.

Center Managing Director Speaks at Conference in Portland

Once every year, the Marriott School’s dean’s office sends a speaker to each BYU Management Society chapter. This year, John Richards, managing director of the Rollins Center for eBusiness, was selected by the Portland, Oregon Chapter to speak on the future of e-business and entrepreneurship.

“My presentation was actually a combination of entrepreneurship and e-business,” Richards says. “In fact, I shared much about Web 2.0 and the opportunities in the marketplace for innovators, especially in e-business.”

New Assistant Program Manager Is Up to the Challenge

For Holly Watkins, her new position as assistant program manager for the Rollins Center for eBusiness, helps fulfill her passion of learning about technology.

“What I do know is that technology can do great things,” Watkins says. “Now I want to know how I can use technology to reach worthwhile goals. Some goals include organizing family records. I would also like to study how technology can continue to improve education and be a tool for struggling countries, which is closely related to the center’s eCANDLE Project.”
