Millions of people throughout the world yearn for an education, but many do not have the resources to make it possible.
Agilix, with help from the Rollins Center for eBusiness, will make education more accessible through the launch of a social networking web site on 1 September, known as BrainHoney.
“The BrainHoney launch will have some fantastic features that will allow any user to create compelling lessons and learning snippets without having to be an instructional designer or computer programmer,” says Curtis Morley, main software developer at Agilix.
The BrainHoney site will allow its users to share lessons and information about any subject, giving education the opportunity for a global reach. Morley says this innovative approach will change education for the better.
“The purpose of the tool is to allow anyone to creatively express themselves by making exciting, interactive, and enjoyable content that can be shared around a classroom or around the world,” Morley says. “It has a global reach, no barriers to entry, and is very powerful in creating content as well as aggregating content that you have already created.”
The BrainHoney web site is currently running in a Beta state. New enhancements are added to the site every week in preparation for a feature rich and stable product for the September launch.
The new features will allow students to have a more interactive learning experience as well as the chance to master valuable computer skills.
“With BrainHoney, we’re able to immerse students in a stimulating and motivating learning environment that provides access to a wide variety of multimedia input,” says Michael Bush, a developer of interactive learning materials and an ESL Program Development Partner, in a press release. “BrainHoney has the unique ability to cater to various individual learning styles through visually rich animation, text, audio clips, and engaging interactions, thus creating a revolutionary and engaging way for students to experience information and flourish.”
High schools, colleges, and universities across the nation are using the approach BrainHoney offers to education by eliminating the use of textbooks and requiring students to learn subject material for classes online.
“This trend will continue and the pace will increase to meet the global need,” Morley says. “The infrastructure cost for formal education is so prohibitive that many countries around the world are looking for effective alternatives. With an online community of learners and contributors, the rigid boundaries between teacher and student fade, the concept of textbooks changes to live updated knowledge, and the classroom is where you are.”
